In 1993, an initiative of two engineers – Jonas Putna and Kazys Čiurila – led to the creation of an enterprise of agricultural equipment production. It was established in the village of Vilainiai, in the premises of the agricultural association “Vilainiai”. Large demand for agricultural implements formed good conditions for the development of the enterprise’s productive potential. In 1998, the entity was reorganised legally and registered as the Closed Joint-Stock Company “Laumetris” (UAB Laumetris). Productive premises were acquired from the agricultural association “Bartkūniškis” in the settlement of Keleriškiai. Constant reinvestment of earnings allowed to acquire top-quality metal-working equipment and engage in the production of reliable and accessibly-priced agricultural equipment. The results of the enterprise’s activity are well reflected by various exhibitions in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, where “Laumetris” takes parts every year.

    1. In 1997, UAB Laumetris became a winner of the springtime exhibition-fair “Ką pasėsi… 97” (“… What One Sows 97”) and of the autumn exhibition “Ruduo 97” (“Autumn 97”).
    2. In 1998, a letter of gratitude was received from the President of the Republic of Lithuania, His Excellency Valdas Adamkus. “I thank You for helping the agricultural traditions of our land and producing good and high-quality Lithuanian agricultural equipment, introducing scientific novelties in the rebuilding countryside of Lithuania. I wish You big creative achievements and the best of luck”.

    3. Later on, the enterprise became a winner of the exhibition “Lietuvos Agropanorama” (“Lithuanian Agropanorama”) five times (in 1999, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006), and of the exhibition “Ką pasėsi…” (“… What One Sows”) – twice (in 2002 and 2004).
    4. The enterprise received the gold medal of the “AgroBalt” exhibition twice: in 2000 – for the preplant preparation unit KLS-4, and in 2004 – for the disc drill machine DS-4.

    5. In 1999, Lithuanian ploughmen started to take part in the world ploughing competition, using special ploughs, designed and manufactured by UAB Laumetris. In September 2007, the world ploughing competition will be staged in Lithuania, and the ploughmen there will use ploughs prepared by Laumetris.

At present, the enterprise has 82 employees. During 2006, the following products were the most popular: tractor semitrailers (145 units sold); manure spreaders (161 units sold); loaders (140 units sold). Implements, produced by strong Polish enterprises and represented exclusively by UAB Laumetris, are gaining in popularity: “Samasz” – hay mowers, rakes; “Sipma” – presses, wrappers; “Meprozet” – sewage transporters, “Unia” – earth tilling and sowing machines; “Metaltech” – fodder mixers-dispensers. The enterprise has official representatives in Latvia (“AgroVita”), Poland (“Meprozet”), Estonia (“Ala-Talutechnika”) and Belarus (“Otrana”).
